I caint quit you!

Yes, my shoe is stuck to my bike...

Imagine the surprise on my face when I tried to click out of my pedal and the bike didn't let go! Apparently I lost one of the screws that holds the cleat to my shoe somewhere on the road today. With only one screw, the cleat stayed right where it was (attached to the bike) no matter how I moved my foot. Luckily I almost always click out with my left foot first.

What was once broken, is now UPGRADED!

Upgrade

Shortly after my post entitled, "Dear Bontrager" the rear wheel on my bike began to get noticeably worse for wear. Upon further inspection, I noticed that I had started to develop small hairline cracks in the rim. The bike is two years young, with a couple thousand miles pedaled by a guy packing a couple extra pounds. There's NO way warranty is gonna cover this...

In strides my heroes... Trek and Bontrager. Not only did Trek opt to cover my wheel, they upgraded me to a Race Lite wheel, tire and tube. We're talking about $400 in bike parts folks. What other companies do you know of that are willing to stand by their product like that?
Many of us have fallen victim to the fine print in warranty and insurance contracts enough times to know that this type of situation is rare. In the end, I'm a happy customer spreading the word about a great company. Understanding the value in that is a rare trait that many companies today do not have.

Sure Trek has enough marketing data on me to know that I'm the type of person who's gonna go out and buy a matching front wheel... So what! It's a win-win situation for the two groups involved. :)

On a side note... these new wheels will not touch road until I've reached my first personal weight loss goal of 45 pounds. With any luck, (and hard work) I'll be on new wheels in a 3-4 weeks. Lets just call the front wheel a congrats present to myself.

Two of my favorite things.

Beer & photography!

It's been a while, but I got a chance to direct a photo shoot this week. No stuffy talent this time, just good ole' easy going beer bottles. They're quiet, and take direction very well.
